Intensive dance workshops with renown artists for a group of young adults with and without disabilities and operators in Novara; opening to the public with a co-creation and co-realization of events.
THE PROJECT IN DETAIL
Objectives
To strengthen competencies and have new expressive possibilities emerge for people with vulnerabilities and the operators that assist them.
Beneficiairies
16 young adults, approximately half of whom with disabilities, under the care of the Handicapped Territorial Education Services in the city of Novara between the ages of 16 and 39.
Activities
The project provides for a continuation of dance training and workshop research activities undertaken with a group of performers, operators and disabled people with the aim to provide greater professionalism. In 2022, the association completes the creative process started in 2021 in which it converges, takes to a higher level and systematizes competencies, integrating citizens and persons with disabilities. At the same time, it gives greater attention to the possibility of opening its work to the public through the co-creation and co-realization of events open to the public thanks to the creation of a Festival and collaboration with cultural entities that organize the theatrical seasons.
The Oltre le Quinte Association was founded in 2016 based on twenty years’ experience gained with artistic workshops for people with vulnerabilities under the care of the Social Services of Novara (ComuneArte). Today, it is an integrated artistic group composed of professional educators, volunteers, vulnerable youths and operators in integrated artistic languages.
Since 2017, with the support of AMI, Oltre le Quinte has undertaken experimental training with weekly workshops in dance/emotive research and, since 2018, with the realization of intensive workshops with renown artists. In 2019/2020, the Association produced and disseminated “Stato di Grazia”, involving a photography exhibit, movement scores and actions open to the public. “Stato di Grazia” was presented for the first time in Novara on 18 October 2019 together with the text “Danzando oltre le quinte”, which recounts chorally and via images three years’ of the project. In 2020 an on-line call was initiated for performers, dancers, amateurs and people from the community aiming for adhesion to a research project with the Oltre le Quinte performers.
